Introduction

Pantoprazole is a derivative of Benzimidazole & correlates to Proton pump inhibitor. It is used to cure ulcers in the esophagus or stomach & is administered as a prod product. Domperidone is a derivative of piperidine & correlates to Dopamine receptor antagonist & also possesses antiemetic & anti-vertigo properties.

Mechanism of action

The function of Pantoprazole is to stop the acid secretion in the stomach by its conversion into the sulfenamide in an acidic medium which interacts with sulfhydryl group in H+/K+-ATPase system (proton pump) & thereby block the exchange of extracellular K+ for intracellular H+ ion. Domperidone is an antagonist of Dopamine receptor (D2 & D3) at gastric level & chemoreceptor trigger (reason to mediate nausea).

Pharmacological Uses

The combination of Pantoprazole & Domperidone is indicated for the prevention of Intestinal or stomach ulcers, Gastroesophageal reflux (GERD), treatment of nausea & vomiting, gas in the stomach, acid secretion in stomach, Heartburn & backflow of acid & gastritis.

Dosage

One tablet or capsule contains 40 mg of Pantoprazole & 10 mg of Domperidone or 40 mg of Pantoprazole & 30 mg of Domperidone. The dose recommended is one tablet/capsule per day or as suggested by your doctor.
