This is the combination of salts with optimum activity. Ferrous ascorbate is achieved by Ascorbic acid reaction with Iron. Ascorbic acid helps to increase the absorption of iron & convert ferric iron to ferrous iron. Folic acid has played a vital role in the process of erythropoiesis. Zinc sulfate prevents Zinc deficiency.

Distribution- Ferrous ascorbate -Transported in a transferring bound form to bone marrow

Distribution-Folic acid-Higher concentration in liver

Onset of action of folic acid is 20-30 minutes (oral)

Duration of action of folic acid is 3-6 hours (oral)

Ferrous ascorbate bound to plasma proteins is 90%

Mechanism of Action

When the Ferrous ascorbate administered in the body get readily converted to its ferric form & immediately again to ferrous form which is transported to duodenum for better absorption. A folic acid is an inactive form which is converted to tetrahydrofolic acid and methyltetrahydrofolate with the help of an enzyme dihydrofolate reductase in the liver.
