It helps to increase the good cholesterol (HDL-High density lipoproteins).

Mechanism of action

Atorvastatin action for lowering bad cholesterol is shown by inhibiting HMG CoA reductase enzyme which is essential for the reduction conversion of HMG CoA to mevalonate, which is necessary for the hepatic cholesterol biosynthesis. Thus decreases the bad cholesterol synthesis.
