Introduction

Amlodipine besylate belongs to the family of calcium channel blocker for lowering the blood pressure in hypertension. Telmisartan belongs to the angiotensin II receptor blocker by loosening up the blood vessels to prevent the blood flow & make it easy to flow.

Mechanism of action

Amlodipine works on the principle of blocking the calcium ion influx across the cell membrane due to which vasodilatation occurs & peripheral vascular resistance decreases to lower the blood pressure. Telmisartan works by inhibiting angiotensin II receptor type 1 that is AT1 with greater affinity as compared to AT2 in vascular smooth muscles & adrenal glands.

Amlodipine & Telmisartan is used for the Hypertension to lower the blood pressure, Kidney failure in a patient with diabetes, Heart attack, Heart failure, chronic stable angina, Vasospastic angina, Prevent Strokes & coronary artery disease.
